Statistics show that most kitchen accidents are knife-related, and often the main cause is just that plain old dull knife. You may not notice, but through repeated use, knives become dull. The safest knife is a sharp knife. With a sharp knife you have control and can easily cut through food. When the blade is dull, it forces the knife through the food. When working with your kitchen knives, keep the following safety tips in mind;

• A good knife is worth purchasing, choose a knife that is heavy and well balanced, as compared to one that can easily bend or snap.
• A knife that is poorly constructed will have difficulty maintaining an edge and can warp over time.
• A good knife however is forged with high carbon content and if sharpened regularly will be a pleasure to use for a long time.
