Whether you're a hairdresser, gardener, dressmaker, or hobbyist, keeping your tools sharp and performing well is very important. Here are some handy guidelines for looking after your shears...

Inspect your shears prior to use. Using your shears when in poor condition can worsen the damage. Attend to it before it gets worse.

Clean your tools after every use.

Do not let any grit or any product sit on them for a long time.

Remove any debris using a clean cloth or tissue.

Be sure that the material you use to wipe it will not cause any scratches on the exterior.

Store them securely in a container. Keeping your tools in the same container where you store your other tools may damage the cutting edge of the tool. It would be best to make use of a special container to ensure that they are well protected while not being used.

Sharpen your tools properly. Get them sharpened by a professional sharpening service to maintain the sharpness.

avoid dropping your tools. Dropping can cause bends which will affect its ability to create regular cutting.
